What would you do if a stranger handed you Rs. 1000 (less than $20)? Go for a semi-expensive dinner? Go to a club? Buy those t-shirts you have been eying? Pay off your mobile bill for a month? For most of us, Rs. 1000 may not be that much. But for many Indians, Rs. 1000 is more than, or at least a significant portion of, their monthly income. They can hope to earn Rs. 1000 only after continuous, strenuous, hard work day in and day out.
So when Varun Pruthi conducted a social experiment handing out Rs. 1000 to the poorest of the poor, their expressions, caught on this video, were priceless. Many were left speechless, not knowing what had hit them. But we are sure it must have made their day, their month, heck…it must have made their year!
