NASA Rocket Explodes on Liftoff. Watch the Terrifying Live Footage.
The unmanned Antares rocket exploded shortly after liftoff on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, off the Eastern coast of the United States. Within seconds all the supplies and experiments the rocket was carrying en route to the International Space Station turned into a giant orange ball of flames.
But the good news is that there were no deaths or injuries.
The rocket was carrying 2215 kilograms of cargo, including experiments, spacewalk tools, flight equipment, food, books, and computer resources for the crew. The experiments varied widely from student research to complex medical studies.
